Frequently Asked Questions.

Commissioning a bespoke pet portrait is something many people who come to me have never done before. The process is fairly straight forward and you can read about it hear, but if that hasn't answered all your questions, please feel free to browse my FAQ or drop me an email from my contact page

How much will my pet portrait cost?

The price of your pet portrait will depend on a few things. Size, framed or unframed and medium. My prices in each medium can be found here and the various styles of portraits can be viewed in my galleries. Please feel free to browse and if you have any further questions please drop me an email or give me a call on 07951 241193

How long do pet portraits take?

This depends on a few factors, such as the size of the pet painting, whether you want a background, how many subjects are to be painted and my schedule. Normally I would say between 8-10 weeks but at busy periods it can be longer. Please don't hesitate to drop me an email for an idea of my current waiting times.

What do you paint your pet portraits in?

Most of my pet portraits are painted in pastels or watercolours. My pastels have a realistic, photographic style about them and my watercolours a more contemporary feel, where I use bright, vibrant colours. These are my Jolly Splashes range

I can also work in other mediums for your pet portraits, such as acrylic and graphite, so please don't hesitate to ask.

Do you work from photographs?

Yes all my pet portraits are from photographs. Please email them to me, or if you live locally to me, in and around Kent, I maybe able to visit you to take photographs, or you can bring your pets to me. Please read up on the best way to take photographs of your pets here as the photographs are very important so I can create the best pet portrait for you.

How do I pay for my pet portrait?

Your pet portrait can be paid for by BACS, Paypal or Credit/debit card. Please give me prior notice if you would like to pay by card as I need to set it up to take payments

Can I visit you?

Yes of course, visits are welcome via prior booking. I have a small studio and a green down the road from me where I can take photographs of your pet. I have two dogs and I am afraid my Jack Russell isn't the friendliest so I can't really have them in the house, apologies. There are fields near by if your canine companion needs to stretch his/her legs. Just let me know I can show you where.

Can you take photographs for me?

Yes of course, I can either come to you if not too far. I am in Kent and I am happy to travel a 10 mile radius. Any further and I will have to charge petrol or please feel free to bring your dog to me, or horse should you wish! Please see above question for details on visiting.

Can you use phone photos?

I can definitely paint pet portraits from phone photographs, mobile technology has improved so much since I first started when I would have to turn them down! Please refer here form my guide to taking photos for your pet portrait.

Do you frame pet portraits?

Yes! I more often than not frame pet portraits for my clients. I have a selection of frames you can choose from. I am always happy to guide you through the whole process from painting to deciding on the frame for your pet painting.

What if I want more than two pets in a portrait?

No problem! I have been known to accommodate 5-6 pets in one painting. I can put them together from separate photographs and help work out the idea from the start to final portrait. Please don't hesitate to contact me for more information or read more about the process here.
