Of the summer holidays. Well done to all the Mum's out there who have survived so far and managed to keep their whipper snappers happy and entertained for the long 5 weeks, nearly there now a week to go for most of them. I don't know about you though, I do miss them millions when they go back to school. It is always tinged with a bit of sadness for me as I know they are are going up a year and just getting that more independent from me. Don't get me wrong, I love watching the people they are becoming and their personalities developing, but it's happening so quick!
Back to the pet portraits. It's been quiet on the modern pet portrait side of things or should I say Jolly Splashes. I need to get my watercolours out and get creating as I have a highland cow sitting on my easel and I do have a triple dog portrait to make a start on that will be eventually going on a huge canvas!
The pastel pet portraits have had lots of activity over the weekend despite me having a wedding to go to. I am juggling 4 pet portraits at the moment. All of the spaniel variety. I am not going to show you the progress shots as they are just bad phone photos, but certainly at least one will be scanned in tomorrow. I just couldn't face the heat in my scanning room. It's in our loft conversion and it turns into a sauna in this heat. Unfortunately as it is an A3 scanner it is too big for my studio so I have to trek up the two flights of stairs. Exercise at least! I didn't need anymore of that after my Nordic Hike around the Kent countryside today!
Next up on the pet portraits front is a gorgeous cat and guess what? Wait for it........................another springer spaniel portrait. I am in the process of giving my studio a little tidy as this pet painting I will be doing a time lapse of! Exciting.
Please do bear in mind I am now getting pet portrait bookings for Christmas, so please don't leave it to the last minute to get a Christmas commission booked in.
Also for attention as I haven't uploaded a recent commission I have dug through the archives to show you this beauty from earlier on in the year!
